Two ways to use our data
Everything on Kultranz traces to a named federal release: BLS OEWS wages, BEA Regional Price Parities, Census ACS housing and income, IRS 2026 tax rules. There are two ways to build on that, and we are explicit about which is which.
Free, forever: the downloadable dataset is CC BY 4.0. Use it, commercially too, with attribution. It is a snapshot; keeping it current is your job.
Licensed: the maintained feed and the rights that need a contract. If your product depends on this data being fresh, complete and correctly shaped every morning, or if you want to redistribute it or ship it white-label, that is a license. This page is where you get one.
What is licensed
- The maintained JSON API feed for production use, with refresh commitments documented in the license (we ship refreshes within 30 days of each BLS, BEA and Census release, and before each tax year opens for IRS figures; the license makes that a commitment, not a best effort).
- Bulk exports in JSON and CSV: the full dataset in one download instead of paged API calls.
- Commercial redistribution rights: resell or bundle the data in a paid product (Redistribution tier).
- White-label embed license: ship the calculators or the data under your own brand (Redistribution tier).
Tiers
Launch pricing. These are the prices for early licensees; they will change, and existing licenses keep their terms.
| Tier | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Data Pass | $5 one-time | Lifetime API key, no daily cap. Self-serve, live now. For builders, not redistribution. |
| Business | $19/mo (launch pricing) | The maintained feed for your internal tools and products: API access for production, bulk exports, documented refresh commitments. No redistribution. |
| Redistribution | $20/mo (launch pricing) | Everything in Business, plus commercial redistribution rights and the white-label embed license. |

Self-serve checkout for the two licensed tiers is being wired up. Until it is live, those two buttons open our checkout endpoint, which answers with a licensing contact response pointing back to this page instead of a payment page. That is the intended behavior, not a bug: the direct route is email and it is faster anyway.
How a license actually happens
- Email [email protected] with your use case: what you are building, expected volume, whether you need redistribution.
- You get an evaluation dataset and a quote back, usually within two to three business days.
- Invoice, agreement, key. The license terms, including refresh commitments and attribution requirements, are in writing before you pay.
The $5 Data Pass needs none of this: buy it here, get a key by email, done.
The honest data notes
The same disclaimers apply licensed or free, because they are properties of the underlying statistics, not of the price tag:
- Estimates, not tax advice. The take-home model covers federal income tax, FICA and state income tax; it excludes local/city taxes, credits and itemized deductions. Scope is documented on the methodology page.
- Nulls are real. Where a metro lacks a Census field, it is null, not interpolated. No number on this site or in this feed is invented.
- Vintage is named. Every response carries its sources and vintage, so you can label provenance in your own product.
